Sunburnt in Riga

Last day in Riga and the beautiful weather continued. We have been so lucky.
Visited the Jewish Ghetto and Museum which is another tragic story in Riga's history. The guide and Rabbi were happy to talk to us about the museum and the terrible events during WWII. A chilling display showed photos of children (with their dolls) who perished at the hands of the Nazis.
In the afternoon we walked to the gardens to take a canal and river ride on an original timber boat. A very pleasant thing to do on such a gorgeous afternoon. We motored right into the Daugava River, so had a completely different view of Riga.
Visited the Greek Orthodox Cathedral with its wonderful icons on the way to the Skybar at the Hotel Latvija, where we had a plate of tapas and a couple of cocktails each.
A taxi back to our hotel and dinner in the restaurant - a fitting finish to a mixed, but great, day.

  2. The Jewish Museum was confronting, to say the least.
