Goodbye Sweden, hello Latvia

Flew AirBaltic to Riga. Good trip followed by an, at times, kamikaze taxi ride to our hotel. First impressions from the airport showed Riga to be run down and in need of an overhaul. Timber homes and blocks of flats from the Soviet era are very unkempt. After checking in at the art deco Hotel Neiburgs, we went for a walk around the Old Town (more cobbles). Lovely atmosphere with everybody relaxing and enjoying themselves. Had dinner at St Peter's Brewhouse (duck and red cabbage for me).
The night that had begun so well was invaded by noise. Music from the square (one of many) played until late and groups of people continued the noise till 5 am. Latvians sure know how to party.
